Eddie & The Hot Rods - "Life On The Line" (1977).

I lucked out and found this cart of Eddie & The Hot Rods second Lp. The album contains probably their biggest hit in the UK, "Do Anything You Wanna Do". I bought it from a dealer on eBay for a buck. The cart is STILL SEALED!

Patti Smith - "Horses" (1975).

Patti Smith's first album. THE necessary primer for any punk/new wave collection. The album will knock you off your feet. This is a very hard to find cart. I stumbled across it it beautiful condition. No repair work was needed.

Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass - "Going Places" (1965).

This cart is a Lear Jet cart. The biggest problem in repairing these types of carts were the rollers. They were made of a cheap rubber that, mostly all the time, became very gummy, and were almost impossible to replace. There was nothing out there to replace them with. Your best bet is to find another cart that didn't have a bad roller that fit the one you were replacing, and use that one.

The Monkees - "Greatest Hits" (1976).

The Monkees 'Greatest Hits' cart was released by Arista Records in 1976. This cart was a reissue of the older Lp entitled, "Re-Focus" which was released in 1972. This Arista issue is pretty much the easiest Monkees 8-track to find. I didn't have much repair work to do on this one. Just a new foam pad.

Alice Cooper - "Flush The Fashion" (1980).

Another hard to find cart. Alice Cooper's "Flush The Fashion" released in 1980. It wasn't in the best of shape label-wise when I bought it in a huge box of carts at a flea market. But, all it needed was new foam pads to get it running. It was produced by Roy Thomas Baker, the man who worked with The Cars for several albums.

Vanity Fare - "Early In The Morning" (1969).

"Early In The Morning" by Vanity Fare. Released on Page One Records in 1969. This is a very hard to find cart. It contains their only two hits, "Hitchin' A Ride" and Early In The Morning". The cart is very easy to open for repair work. Just a couple of snap plugs to pry open and you can start your work. All I had to do on this one was replace the foam padding. I found it at my local flea market in a box of twenty-four carts. The whole box only cost me five bucks.

A beginning...

An old obsolete music format will be the topic of discussion here.
A format that still has me and some of you out there in it's grip.
It's pure love.
I'll be discussing tapes, repairs, and a whole mess-o-stuff as this blog progresses.
Hope you enjoy.
Mike :)
